The Municipio Trigal (also: El Trigal ) is a district in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality Trigal is one of five municipalities in the province of Vallegrande and comprises the northeastern areas of the province. It borders the province of Florida to the northeast and north , the Municipio Moro Moro to the west , and the Municipio Vallegrande to the south .

The municipality extends between about 18 ° 10 'and 18 ° 27' south latitude and 64 ° 03 'and 64 ° 15' west longitude, its expansion from west to east is up to 20 kilometers and from north to south up to 30 kilometers . It essentially comprises the valley of the Río Cienega between the localities of Muyurina and Lagunillas , which is embedded between north-south running mountain ridges that reach heights of up to 2,400 m here.

The municipality comprises 17 municipalities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is the town of Trigal with 215 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the central part of the district.

The municipality of Trigal is located in the transition area between the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Oriental in the north and the Cordillera Central in the southwest, and the Bolivian lowlands in the east. The climate in the protected valley location is warm and balanced all year round, not as hot and humid as in the nearby lowlands, but also less mild than in the neighboring municipality of Vallegrande.

The mean average temperature of the region is 22 ° C (see Trigal climate diagram) and fluctuates only slightly between 19 ° C in July and 24 ° C from November to January. The annual precipitation is about 650 mm, with a dry season from May to September with monthly precipitation below 25 mm, and a wet season from December to February with 100 to 125 mm monthly precipitation.

The population density of the district in the last census of 2012 was 5.4 inhabitants / km², the literacy rate among those over 15 years of age had increased from 85.0 percent (1992) to 91.6 percent. The life expectancy of the newborns was 67.9 years, the infant mortality had decreased from 5.9 percent (1992) to 4.7 percent in 2001.

99.6 percent of the population speak Spanish , 3.3 percent speak Quechua , and 0.1 percent speak Aymara . (2001)

99.8 percent of the population have no access to electricity , 74.0 percent live without sanitary facilities (2001) .

100 percent of the 447 households have a radio, 43.6 percent a television, 75.4 percent a bicycle, 6.5 percent a motorcycle, 11.9 percent a car, 16.6 percent a refrigerator, and 2.0 percent a telephone. (2001)
