Mural Global is a worldwide mural project that the association “Farbfieber eV” from Düsseldorf set up together with the responsible artist Klaus Klinger in 1998 as part of Agenda 21 under the auspices of UNESCO . The purpose of the project is to use the message of the pictures to enter into a dialogue with other cultures about the state of the world and globalization and to find alternatives to improve the quality of life. Since 2003, the “Mural Global” project has been supplemented with the “Mural Mobil” project.

development

As part of the Mural Global project, more than 100 public murals have been created worldwide by artists from different cultures within four to six weeks on exposed walls of public buildings. In addition to Germany, more than 25 countries took part, including India, Cuba, Brazil, Nicaragua, Chile, Namibia, Senegal, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Latvia, Spain, Turkey and the USA.

In Germany, the project is mainly supported by the organization Eine Welt , which assists with the bureaucratic permits, the selection of artist groups, the acquisition of local sponsors and the design of the supporting program. In addition, local young people are involved, who can contribute their own ideas and who should develop a special view of the country and the people through cooperation with the foreign artist groups.

In 2001, Mural Global was selected by UNESCO as the official German contribution to the UN year: “Dialogue between cultures”. In addition, in 2002 the association Farbfieber eV received the innovation award of the “Fonds Soziokultur” for its initiative and organization from Mural Global.

Since 2003 the project has been supplemented by "Mural Mobil" while maintaining the socio-cultural aspects. The pictures are created on vinyl mesh and can be temporarily attached to construction sites or house walls as an eye-catcher on certain occasions.
