The Museu Coleção Berardo is a museum for modern and contemporary art in Lisbon . It opened on June 25, 2007 in the Centro Cultural de Belém and houses the art collection of José Berardo .

The museum's program covers important visual arts movements of the 20th and 21st centuries in Europe and America, such as surrealism , pop art , hyperrealism , minimalism and conceptual art . A special focus is the modern and contemporary art of Portugal.

In addition to the permanent exhibition of the Berardo Collection, which comprises around 1,000 works, there are also temporary exhibitions. The founding director was Jean-François Chougnet , and Pedro Lapa has been director of the museum since April 2011 . With more than 2.6 million visitors since 2007, it is one of the 50 most visited museums in the world.
