The Mutzschener Wasser is a right tributary of the Mulde in Saxony . The Mutzschen water is a second order river.

course

The Mutzschener water rises on the field between Ragewitz , Nauberg and Frauendorf , which are now all districts of the large district town of Grimma . The stream initially turns to the northeast, crosses under the A14 motorway and after 4.5 km reaches Wetteritz . After another 2.5 km, now in a north-westerly direction, it passes Mutzschen , where it feeds the castle pond over the Mühlgraben.

At Wagelwitz , the Mutzschener Wasser takes in the Saubach, which rises in the Wermsdorf Forest and runs through Wermsdorf and Horstsee , from the right . Between Cannewitz and Denkwitz comes the Würschwitzer Bach from the left . In Gornewitz a mill ditch branches off again, and after it has passed Neichen , a district of Trebsen , the Mutzschen water flows into the hollow.

The Mutzschener Wasser only left the urban area of Grimma for the last three kilometers on its 19-kilometer run.

protection

In 2002 the area around the Mutzschener Wasser between Wermsdorf and Trebsen was added to the Natura 2000 list together with the Döllnitz , with "near-natural stream sections with accompanying vegetation, various wetlands in floodplains, adjacent natural deciduous forests and fresh meadow areas".
