Location of Wagelwitz in Saxony

Wagelwitz is a village in the Leipzig district in Saxony . Politically, the place has belonged to Grimma since 2012 . It lies between Roda and Cannewitz .

In a document, Wagelwitz was first mentioned in 1378 as "Wocherwicz, Wochilwicz". Further mentions were:

On July 1, 1972 Wagelwitz was incorporated into Cannewitz. On January 1, 1994, the towns of Cannewitz, Denkwitz, Löbschütz and Thümmlitz were incorporated into Nerchau, Wagelwitz was reclassified to Mutzschen . With the incorporation on January 1, 2012 Wagelwitz became a part of the municipality of Grimma.
