Dorna is part of the municipality of the Saxon city ​​of Grimma in the Leipzig district .

Dorna is located about 3 kilometers east of Grimma on the right bank of the United Mulde .

Neighboring places of Dorna are Bahren in the northeast, Golzern in the east, Döben in the southeast, Neunitz in the south and Grimma in the southwest.

The original Rundling with a village row in the Muldenaue is old settlement land, 1000 years ago there was a Slavic settlement near Dorna near the Mulde. There are valuable finds from the Latène period (approx. 450 BC), including a. a bronze brooch .

In 1814 August Schumann mentions Dorna in the State, Post and Newspaper Lexicon of Saxony concerning a. a .:

“It has 50 residents over 10 years of age who have 3 ⅛  hooves , 4 horses and 52 cows. The village belongs partly in writing to the Döben manor , partly to the Böhlen manor, and the inhabitants are parished to Döben. "

Albert Schiffner supplemented or corrected 1828 a. a .:

“[...] has probably only 2 ⅛ hooves, since 1 ⅛ belongs to the döbenchen and 1 belongs to the böhlen dishes, drives good apple and u. a. Fruit growing, […]. The local grain is considered the best in Amte Grimma . "

On May 1, 1910, Dorna received the station of the same name (from June 18, 1910 "Dorna-Döben") railway connection on the Glauchau – Wurzen line . On May 28, 1967, traffic on this route was finally stopped.

On January 1, 1957, Dorna was incorporated into Grimma, and on January 1, 1967, Dorna was reclassified into the newly formed municipality of Döben.

On January 1, 1994, the municipality of Döben was incorporated into Grimma, Dorna became a part of the municipality.

In December 2004, after a construction period of 4 months, the Muldentalbahn cycle path between Grimma and Wurzen, which mainly used the old railway line, was opened to traffic.
