history

In a document, Motterwitz was mentioned for the first time in 1303 as an addition to the name of the nobleman "Guntherus de Mocerwicz". Further mentions were:

  • 1340: Mockerwicz
  • 1353: Motirwicz
  • 1501: Motterbitz
  • 1548: Motterwitz

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Muschau was incorporated.

On January 1, 1967 Motterwitz was incorporated into Dürrweitzschen. On March 1, 1994, the then independent municipalities of Böhlen, Dürrweitzschen, Leipnitz, Ragewitz and Zschoppach merged to form the municipality of Thümmlitzwalde . This in turn was incorporated into the city of Grimma on January 1, 2011, which means that Dürrweitzschen has been part of the municipality since then.
