Bröhsen is part of the municipality of the Saxon city ​​of Grimma in the district of Leipzig .

location

The place is on the S38 road. There is a riding stables and an alpaca farm in the village. There are various types of wind energy plants in the hilly area around the town.

history

Bröhsen was first mentioned in a document in 1283 and is borrowed from the Slavic word “pretzel” for birch. The shape of the settlement corresponds to that of a lane-like extended Rundweiler with numerous three- and four-sided farms. Lignite mining took place around the site until the 1920s.

On January 1, 1973 Bröhsen was incorporated into Ragewitz . On March 1, 1994, the previously independent municipalities of Böhlen, Dürrweitzschen, Leipnitz, Ragewitz and Zschoppach merged voluntarily to form the new municipality of Thümmlitzwalde .

On January 1, 2011, the municipality of Thümmlitzwalde merged with the large district town of Grimma , making Bröhsen a part of the municipality since then.
