history

The place was mentioned as early as 1266 under the name Scobpuch . Other names were Zschoppoch , Schoppoch (1353) and Czschoppach (1420/1421), Zschoppach (1495) and Tschoppach (1529). The place has had its current name since 1791. Around 1260 the pastor Theodericus plebanus de Scobpuch is mentioned as a witness for the Bishop of Meissen during the parish from Commichau to Collmen . In 1499, Pastor Sebastian Schumann von Zschoppach donated 700 Rhenish guilders to the Buch monastery and St. Matthäi Leisnig church for the construction of a new altar. Zschoppach already owned a church before 1830, but it was demolished. The first service in today's church was celebrated in 1830. This has two galleries and an organ with 22 registers . In 1993 the originally mechanical watch was replaced by a radio controlled watch .
