Mykhaylo Sabryha CSsR ( Ukrainian Михайло Сабрига even Михаїл Сабрига Mychajil Sabryha * 22. November 1940 in Bortkiw , Lviv Oblast , Ukrainian SSR ; † 29. June 2006 in Zhytomyr , Ukraine ) was Ukrainian Greek Catholic Bishop of Ternopil-Zboriv in Ukraine.

Life

Mychajlo Sabryha graduated from middle school and served in the military from 1959 to 1962 . In 1963 he joined as a novice in the Congregation of the Redemptorists ( religious symbol : a CSsR). He began his theology studies in Lviv and took his religious vows on November 8, 1971 . Bishop Volodymyr Sternjuk CSsR consecrated him on February 27, 1974 as a religious priest of the Redemptorists. After his ordination he worked underground as a pastor in Lemberg, Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk .

On October 11, 1986 Archbishop Volodymyr Sterniuk CSsR consecrated him as an underground bishop (also known as secret bishop) in Ukraine. Since 1991 Sabryha has been able to publicly pursue his pastoral task in the diocese of Ternopil . On January 16, 1991, the consecration as "secret bishop" was confirmed by the Holy See with the appointment as titular bishop of Bucellus . At the same time Sabryha was installed as auxiliary bishop in the Lviv Archeparchy. On April 20, 1993, Bishop Sabryha was appointed Bishop of Ternopil and in 2000 Bishop of Ternopil-Zboriw. He died on June 29, 2006 as a result of a protracted and serious heart disease.

During his term of office he was co- consecrator of Ihor Wosnjak CSsR to titular bishop of Nisa in Lycia (auxiliary bishop in Lemberg), Wassyl Iwassjuk to titular bishop of Benda ( Archeparch of Odessa-Crimea ), Wassyl Semenjuk to titular bishop of Castra Severiana (auxiliary bishop of Castra Severiana ) and Jarosław Pryriz as titular bishop of Auzia (auxiliary bishop in Sambir-Drohobytsch ).
