Néstor Errea , full name Néstor Martín Errea , (born April 27, 1939 in Buenos Aires , † June 3, 2005 in Athens ) was an Argentine football player . After the end of his football career in Greece, Errea remained loyal to the country, became a Greek citizen in 1977, married a Greek woman and lived in Larisa in an Athens hospital until his death from a stroke .

Career

Goalkeeper Errea played from 1958 to 1961 for the Argentine first division club Atlanta and played 67 games in the Primera División Argentina during this period . In 1960 his club triumphed in the Copa Suecia . It followed in the years 1962 to 1965 19 completed first division games during an engagement with the Boca Juniors . In 1962 , 1964 and 1965 he was the Argentine champion with the capital city. 1966 to 1967 he was in the ranks of Colóns . There are 43 appearances in the league for him. Errea moved in 1967 to the reigning South American champions Peñarol in the Primera División . He came as a replacement for goalkeeper Mazurkiewicz , who injured himself and was temporarily out of the game due to a fracture of his left hand. There he recorded four appearances in the Copa Libertadores (group stage round 2) and was also used as a regular goalkeeper in the Torneo Competencia and Torneo de Honor due to the injury of Mazurkiewicz in the early stages of the season . With the Aurinegros coached by Roque Máspoli , he won the Uruguayan championship that year. After he put in another station with the Boca Juniors in 1968, he played a total of 26 games for Estudiantes de La Plata in 1969 and 1970 . In the finals of the Copa Libertadores 1970 he was the goalkeeper of the Argentine team that defeated Peñarol and won the title. In 1971 he wore the jersey of the Argentine club Banfield 36 times . Six seasons in Greece followed . There he was under contract for three seasons with AEK Athens, followed by two more with Apollon , before he let his career in Chalkida end with the local second division club AO Chalkida .

National team

Errea played five games for the U20 team in his home country . He was also a member of the senior national team of Argentina , completed two senior internationals from 1959 to 1961 and won the Copa de las Naciones with this in 1964 , but without being used in this tournament.
