The Nachtweidesee , also known as Griessee or Kahler See , is a quarry pond near Kahl am Main in the Aschaffenburg district in Lower Franconia . The name Kahler See is often incorrectly used for the lake Freigericht-Ost (Kahler Campingsee).
description
The Nachtweidesee lies on the edge of the municipal boundary of Kahl between the Unterwald and the Prischoss . A road runs south towards Hörstein . The 12 hectare lake is one of the Vorspessart lakes , which in turn are part of the Kahler Seenplatte . It is a quarry pond and arose from the Gries gravel pit . The night pasture lake is not completely fenced and freely accessible. Bathing is prohibited in the lake; however, it is repeatedly used for wild bathing. There is an overflow from the neighboring Neufeldsee to the Nachtweidesee. The entire area around the lake is designated as a water protection area. A drinking water well is operated on the southern bank .
