The Weihertannensee is a small quarry pond in Kahl am Main in the district of Aschaffenburg in Lower Franconia .

description

Weihertannensee is located on the northern outskirts of Kahl am Main, directly on the larger lake Freigericht-Ost . The federal highway 8 runs along the western bank and behind it the state border with Hesse . The five- hectare lake is part of the Kahler Seenplatte . The Weihertannensee was created in 1970 through gravel mining . Before the start of gravel mining, there was a swampy area where peat digging was carried out at today's location of the lake . The Weihergraben ran through this area in the direction of the Schifflache . It belongs as a private property to the nearby Emmerichshofen Castle and has been completely surrounded by a holiday home colony in Scandinavian style since 1968 . There is a connection to the Freigericht Baltic Sea.
