Nada-ku ( Japanese 灘区 ) is a municipality ( ku ) of Kobe .
geography
Nada-ku includes the urban area from the JR-West train station Nada to between the train stations Rokkōmichi and Sumiyoshi, an area of about the same size of the Rokkō ridge with the peaks Maya and Rokkō.
history
The 1995 Kobe earthquake hit Nada very hard. South of the Yamatekansen artery , which runs in an east-west direction , the city suffered devastating damage, and the reconstruction in the area south of Rokkōmichi station continued until 2005. The elevated section of the JR Tōkaidō line there required the most tedious repair work in 1995.
Attractions
Like the neighboring district of Higashinada-ku , Nada-ku is famous for its sake production. Numerous smaller and larger sake breweries are located in Nada.
The Hankyū station Rokkō is the starting point for bus trips to the mountain of the same name, about 2 km further uphill on the edge of the settlement area is the station of the cable car that leads to the Rokkō and to Arima Onsen , as well as the road up the mountain. As a toll road , it leads through the Rokkō tunnel to Sanda and Arima and forms one of the three road crossings into the northern part of Kobe and the surrounding area.
