Cricket Namibia (also more commonly referred to as the Namibia Cricket Board ) was founded in 1989 and recognized by the International Cricket Council in 1990/1992 . Cricket Namibia is the umbrella organization for Namibian cricket and organizes the two highest national leagues and youth leagues as well as the games of the Namibian national cricket team .
history
The history of cricket in Namibia goes back to 1915. The first game took place between South African soldiers and their prisoners. A first league was launched in 1991. In 1958 the first international matches against South Africa took place. Around 1960 was Southwest African Cricket Union (South West African Cricket Union) founded the predecessor of the Namibia Cricket Board. Between 1962 and 1989, 130 games were played against the South African provinces, 31 of which were won. In 1989 the Namibia Cricket Board was formally established.

International level
National team
Namibia first took part in international tournaments organized by the International Cricket Council in 1994 . The Namibian team won the Philip Snow Trophy at the very first tournament, the ICC Trophy in Kenya in 1994 . Three years later, the Namibian team disappointed in Malaysia . In 2001 Namibia managed to march through and thus successfully qualify for the 2003 Cricket World Cup in South Africa , but took last place there. In qualifying for the World Cup in 2007 and 2011 , Namibia failed. The team will take part in an ICC T20 World Cup for the first time in 2020 .
