Nardo Nagtzaam (born May 9, 1990 in Nijmegen ) is a Dutch ice hockey player who has been playing with the Tilburg Trappers in the German Oberliga Nord since 2017 .
Career
Clubs
Nagtzaam, who comes from Nijmegen near the border with Germany, began his career as an ice hockey player on the other side of the border at Krefeld EV , for which he was active in the student league and the German junior league. At the beginning of 2008 he moved to the Cologne EC , which also played in the German junior league. In the summer of 2008 he was drawn across the pond to North America, where he first played with Alaska Avalanche and Alexandria Blizzard in the NAHL . In 2010 and 2011 he was appointed to the NAHL All-Central Division Team . From 2011 to 2015 he played for the Mercyhurst Lakers, the Mercyhurst University team , from the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In 2015/16 he was under contract with HDD Olimpija Ljubljana in the Austrian ice hockey league . He won the Slovenian Cup competition with his club in 2015 and became Slovenian national champion in 2016 . After his contract in Ljubljana was not extended, he did not find a new club at first. In November 2016 he signed a contract with the British EIHL club Manchester Storm , which he left in December to join the mosquito food from the third-class German Oberliga Nord . For the following season he then moved to league rivals Tilburg Trappers and plays for the first time in the Netherlands. With the team from the province of North Brabant , he won the German league championship in 2018. In 2019 he moved to the Oberliga Süd for EC Peiting.
International
For the Netherlands, Nagtzaam took part in the Division I games of the U18 Junior World Championship in 2008 and in the U20 World Championships in Division II in 2008 , 2009 and 2010 , when he was the tournament's top scorer and second-best scorer behind the Lithuanian Tadas Kumeliauskas .
He made his debut in the men's national team at the 2014 World Cup in Division I, in which he also played in 2015 and 2017 . After relegations in 2015 and 2017, he played at the World Championships in 2016 and 2018 with the Oranjes in Division II and immediately rose again to Division I. He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 .
