nature
It is a fen in the Erdinger Moos ; As early as 1933, land purchases were made by the Bund Naturschutz in order to put this area under protection. For decades, the protected area has repeatedly suffered from a lack of water, and many of the protected plants in this protected area have already died out due to drought. Nutrient inputs from directly adjacent agricultural areas are also problematic, since the protected area is only a very narrow strip. For several years there have been efforts to preserve the protected area and to improve the water situation again. There are annual mowing and de-bushing actions by volunteers. Typical species in this nature reserve include: a. Schneidried and scented leek.
The Gfallach brook flows south of the nature reserve, then curves to the northeast and finally forms the north-eastern end of the nature reserve.
The Gfallach nature reserve forms part of the FFH area ditches and fens in the Erdinger Moos (identifier DE-7736-371). This means that the areas also belong to the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas .
