Neculai Agachi

Neculai Agachi (born February 23, 1925 in Poduri , Bacau district , † 1997 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian politician of the Romanian Communist Party PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) , who was Minister of Metallurgical Industry between 1969 and 1985.

Life

Degree, engineer and minister

Agachi completed a degree in metallurgy at the Bucharest Polytechnic Institute (Institutul Politehnic din București) and then worked as a metallurgy engineer. In 1954 he joined the Romanian Communist Party PCR (Partidul Comunist Român) and studied between 1963 and 1966 at the Ștefan Gheorghiu party college in Bucharest. At the same time he was General Director of the Metallurgy Combine in Hunedoara between 1964 and 1968 . On May 23, 1965, he became a member of the Office of the Party Committee in Hunedoara County . In 1965 he also became a member of the Grand National Assembly (Marea Adunare Națională) and was a member of this until 1989. On the IX. Congress of the PCR it was on July 23, 1965 candidate of the Central Committee of the PCR.

After Agachi was Deputy Minister for Metallurgical Industry between December 21, 1968 and March 13, 1969, he was appointed Minister of Metallurgical Industry (Ministrul industriei metalurgice) in the fifth cabinet of Prime Minister Ion Gheorghe on March 13, 1969, succeeding Ion Marinescu Bricklayer . He held this ministerial post until his replacement by Marin Enache on December 17, 1985. At the same time, he was Vice-President of the National Council of the Socialist United Front FUS (Frontul Unității Socialiste) , which was responsible for drawing up the lists of candidates for the Grand National Assembly. On August 12, 1969, he became a member of the Central Committee of the PCR and was a member of it until the XIV Party Congress on November 24, 1989 . In 1975 he also became a member of the Supreme Council for Economic and Social Development. After he was a PhD student in 1985, he took up the post of First Vice-President of the Central Council for Labor Control of Economic and Social Activities between February 7, 1986 and October 12, 1988.

Agachi was married to Maria Agachi-Ceausescu, a younger sister of Nicolae Ceaușescu .
