Ned Ferm

Ned Ferm (* 1982 ) is an American jazz musician ( tenor saxophone , also keyboard , guitar , composition ) who is also active as an interpreter of folk and roots music.

Live and act

Ferm grew up on a farm on an island off the Maine coast and began playing the violin at the age of four . After graduating from high school, he studied jazz saxophone at William Paterson University from 1999 to 2001 . Between 2001 and 2006 he obtained a Bachelor and Master degree in jazz from the Rytmisk Music Conservatory in Copenhagen . Between 2013 and 2015 he studied there as a postgraduate soloist.

In 2014 he released his debut album Spent All the Money under his own name on Stunt Records . He can be heard on albums by Jakob Bro , Caroline Henderson , Kasper Tranberg , Nicolai Munch-Hansen , Jacob Anderskov , Maria Faust , Kresten Osgood , Gramski 'Beat, Rhonda Harris and Kira Skov. As an interpreter, he has worked with musicians such as John Parish , Yusef Lateef , Roswell Rudd , Airto Moreira , Jorge Rossy , Ben Street , Tyshawn Sorey , Thomas Morgan , Mark Guiliana , , Eugene Chadbourne , Steve Swell and Teitur .
