The Nederlandse Vereniging van Dierentuinen (NVD) is the umbrella organization of the largest zoos in the Netherlands . It was founded in 1966 and is a member of EAZA and IUCN Netherlands . Smaller zoos and animal parks - some of them from the border area with Germany - are members of Dier en Park , another Dutch zoo organization.

aims

At the same time, the association promotes national cooperation between the 13 affiliated zoos. Internationally, around 300 projects were coordinated and promoted by the NVD in 2009.

Affiliated zoos and aquariums

The larger Dutch zoos and aquariums are affiliated to the NVD . These currently (2020) include:

A former member of the association is the Dierenpark Wissel in Wissel . The Dolfinarium Harderwijk , the only dolphinarium in the Netherlands, also left the association in 2019, as it is more of a leisure park than a zoo with a correspondingly different objective.
