Neil Mochan (born April 6, 1927 in Larbert , Falkirk , † August 28, 1994 in Falkirk ) was a Scottish football player on the position of a striker .

Life

Club player

Mochan began his footballing career in the youth division of his home club Dunipace Thistle . At the age of 17, he moved to Greenock Morton in 1944 , where he stayed until 1951. Between 1951 and 1953 he was under contract with England Middlesbrough FC and then returned to Scotland, where he worked for Celtic Glasgow until 1960 . With the Celts he won the Scottish Football Championship and the Cup competition in the 1953/54 season and the Scottish League Cup in the seasons 1956/57 (3-0 against Partick Thistle ) and 1957/58 (7-1 against arch rivals Glasgow Rangers ) .

In November 1960 Mochan moved to promoted Dundee United and in the 1963/64 season he ended his active career in the service of the Raith Rovers .

National player

1954 completed Mochan three international appearances for the Scottish national team . He made his debut on May 19, 1954 in a friendly against Norway (1: 1) and then completed both Bravehearts' games at the 1954 World Cup against Austria (0: 1) and Uruguay (0: 7).

Other activities

After his active career, he returned to Celtic FC, where he worked for a long time as an assistant coach and temporarily as head coach.
