Nejc Pečnik (born January 3, 1986 in Dravograd , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Slovenian football player .

Career

society

Pečnik learned the ABC of football in his hometown near NK Dravograd . In 2002 he moved to the youth department of the Slovenian first division club Audience Celje . In 2004 he made his debut in professional football when the offensive player was used on April 24, 2004 in the league match against FC Ljubljana . In the following season he came to more short assignments, but without counting to the permanent staff. After this season Pečnik was able to celebrate his first title with Celje, where one could prevail in the competition for the national cup . For the 2005/06 season, the attacker prevailed and fought for a place in the starting XI. Gradually he played a role as a key player in his team's system. In 2007/08 he scored 14 goals, which meant the best team for this season. His achievements did not go unnoticed by other European clubs. So it happened that in June 2008 he was loaned from the top Czech club Sparta Prague . After only half a year and four top division games, those responsible decided in February 2009 to let the striker go back to Celje. After a few months, Pečnik said goodbye to Slovenian football again and signed with the Portuguese club Nacional Funchal . Since December 2014 he has been playing for various clubs in Japan .

National team

Pečnik made his debut in the Slovenian national team after having already played for their U-21s . So he came on April 1, 2009, in the World Cup qualifier against Northern Ireland , to his debut in the dress of the A team. Half a year later, on October 10, the striker scored his first goal for the national team against Slovakia . Much more important, however, was his goal shortly before the end of the 2-1 defeat in the first of two relegation games to the 2010 World Cup against Russia , after the second leg was won 1-0 and the Slovenian team came to the World Cup in South Africa because of the away goals rule . There Pečnik was substituted on in two preliminary round matches .
