The Nenkel is a 307.1 m above sea level. NHN high, in northern Hesse Schwalm-Eder district in Gudensberg located basalt dome of the West Hessian Bergland .
Geographical location
The Nenkel is located as part of the Gudensberg threshold in the West Hessian Basin around 1.5 km northwest of the Gudensberg core city and about the same distance southeast of the Gudensberg district of Gleichen . The Ems tributary Goldbach rises in the depression leading north to the Langenberge . The federal motorway 49 with the nearby connection point Gudensberg runs southeast of the mountain. The Ritter Venne desert is located around 700 m to the south-east and the Weißenbornbach tributary of the Ems rises 1.7 km to the south-west .
Protected areas
The wooded Nenkel Kuppe has been designated as a 15 hectare nature reserve Nenkel near Gudensberg (NSG no. 164775) since 1989 . It is also part of the 327.43 hectare, 7-part fauna-flora-habitat area Gudensberger Basaltkuppen and Wald am Falkenstein (FFH no. 4721-304).
