Neon Golden is the sixth studio album by the Weilheim independent band The Notwist . It was released on January 14, 2002 on the City Slang label .
Emergence
Almost four years after their album Shrink , The Notwist released the follow-up in January 2002. More than on the previous albums, Neon Golden - especially forced by Martin Gretschmann - brought electronic elements to bear, which, together with the guitar-oriented sound of the band and symphonic background, formed their own sound cosmos.
The album received largely critical acclaim. In 2002 , Neon Golden was consistently at the top of the annual charts of the renowned German music magazines . It also met with acceptance from record buyers. It took 10th place in the German Media Control sales charts.
In the same year, a 90-minute documentary by Jörg Adolph called On / Off The Record was broadcast on 3sat . He portrayed the entire creation process of the album, from the recording process to the release negotiations and press appointments to the first appearance. The film was released on DVD by City Slang in the winter of 2006.
Neon Golden was also sold as a double 3 "CD in a digipak at concerts.
