Ultra multi-combat

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Icosathlon is a name for a special multi-discipline in athletics . There are twice as many disciplines as in the men's Olympic decathlon or the women's heptathlon.

The decathlon and heptathlon disciplines and their order are retained, interrupted by the longer running disciplines and other technical disciplines. In the men's twentyfight all 18 individual Olympic disciplines are completed in the stadium, supplemented by the 200 meter hurdles and 3000 meters, which are no longer Olympic. As with the Olympic decathlon, the "twentyfight" or "fourteenfight" is held over two days. But there are also events with all disciplines on one day.

Order of disciplines

Men:

Day 1: 100-meter run - long jump - 200-meter hurdles - shot put - 5000-meter run - 800-meter run - high jump - 400-meter run - hammer throw - 3000-meter obstacle course

Day 2: 110-meter hurdles - discus throw - 200-meter run - pole vault - 3000-meter run - 400-meter hurdles - javelin - 1500-meter run - triple jump - 10,000-meter run

Women:

Day 1: 100-meter hurdles - high jump - 1,500-meter run - 400-meter hurdles - shot put - 200-meter run

Day 2: 100-meter run - long jump - 400-meter run - javelin throw - 800-meter run - 200-meter hurdles run - discus throw - 3000-meter run

With two exceptions, the official rules for all-around competitions of the International Athletics Federation ( IAAF ) will be used. All running disciplines must be completed (important for the 3000 meter obstacle, 5000 and 10,000 meters) and only two trial attempts per discipline are permitted in order to guarantee that the competition runs smoothly.

facts and figures

Statistics: In the 26 years the world champions came from the following nations: Finland (11), Estonia (8), USA (2), Great Britain (2), Australia (1), Germany (2). While the states from Northern Europe dominated for the longest time, a clear trend towards internationalization has also been visible in the results lists in recent years. For ten years the Estonian Indrek Kaseorg held the world record with 13,906 points, in 2010 it was finally surpassed by Joseph Detmer (USA), who set the new record to 14,571 points under perfect competition conditions.

His individual performances: 100 m: 10.93 - long: 7.30 - 200 m H: 24.25 - ball: 12.27 - 5000 m: 18: 25.32 - 800 m: 2: 02.23 - high: 1.98 - 400 m: 50.43 - hammer: 31.82 - 3000 m H: 11: 22.47 / 110 m H: 15.01 - discus: 40.73 - 200 m: 22.58 - rod: 4.85 - 3000 m: 10: 25.99 - 400 m H: 53.83 - Speer: 51.95 - 1500 m: 4: 26.66 - Three: 13.67 - 10,000 m: 40: 27.26 .

Detmer and Kaseorg correspond to the ideal type of twenty fighter: above-average decathlete (both top performances over 8000 points) with excellent endurance performances (Detmer 4: 05.31 min over 1500 m).

For women, the roll of honor has been as follows since 1982: Russia (8), Finland (8), Great Britain (3), Estonia (1), Germany (4), USA (1). The world record has stood at 10,798 points since 2002, held by Milla Kelo (FIN).
