The Netphe ( also called Hohe Netphe up to the confluence of the Alte Netphe ) is a 10.8 km long, north-eastern and orographically right tributary of the Sieg in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Siegen-Wittgenstein ( Germany ).

geography

source

The Netphe rises in the southeast part of the Rothaargebirge . Its source is located around 2.7 km southeast of Sohlbach (northeastern part of Netphen ), around 230 m southwest of the Eisenstrasse in the Rothaar Mountains , around 350 m north of the Hohenroth forest house and around 1.4 km (as the crow flies ) west of the Eder spring . It is located not far east of the Daubswiese in a deer enclosure at about 618  m above sea level. NHN .

course

The Netphe initially flows in a predominantly north-westerly direction - to the west parallel to the Eder - through the wooded Rothaargebirge and passes the Krämers Wiese quarry shortly after the source . From there it flows on, a small curve to the north past the 629.2  m high Breiten Berg and after dining from the Sohlbacher Weiher and several smaller ponds reaches the village of Sohlbach. There it gradually bends to the southwest and, below Sohlbach, takes up the Alte Netphe on the right-hand side, which rises on the southwest slope of the Giller mountain , on which the Gillerturm observation tower stands, and in its course feeds the Afholderbacher Weiher .

The Netphe then runs along the federal road 62 via Afholderbach , where it receives the Afferbach on the left and another small tributary on the right, Eschenbach , where it receives the Eschenbach and another small tributary on the left to Netphen , where it takes the Leimbach and the Mühlenbach, its longest The inflow that runs down from the slope of the 526-meter-high mountain Köpfchen .

muzzle

After flowing through downtown Netphen, coming from the northeast - a few meters after crossing under the Netphen bypass - at about 278  m above sea level , it joins the Sieg coming from the southeast .
