history
Neuposa is one of the youngest places in Germany. It was settled in May – December 1920 on the site of a steam brickworks in the area of the municipality of Posa and was thus connected to it as a so-called settlement . The reason was the housing shortage in the lignite mining area . The landmark of the new place is the water tower . As part of the municipality of Posa, Neuposa came to the Altenburg district in the state of Thuringia in 1922 .
On the already lying in Saxony-indication Geiersberg between Neuposa and Nißma middle of the year 1943, an anti-aircraft with 36 guns (24 - 8.8 cm; 3 to 3.7 cm; 9 - 2 cm) for the protection of city Meuselwitz applied . HASAG was located in Meuselwitz at that time , and the town was also important because of the lignite mining industry. Nevertheless, there were bombings on November 30, 1944 and February 20, 1945, with about 20% of the city being destroyed or severely damaged, but it is often incorrectly said that Meuselwitz was destroyed to 85%, more likely that in this one Number also includes minor damage.
From April 13 to 15, 1945, 30 (or 31) German soldiers died near Neuposa, of whom 20 (or 21) are buried in a row grave in the Großröda cemetery.
During the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the existing states were dissolved and the districts were redesigned. Thus Neuposa came as the district of Posa with the district Altenburg at the Leipzig district , since 1990 as a county belonged to Altenburg Thuringia and opened in 1994 Altenburger in the district of the country. Neuposa was incorporated with Posa on January 1, 1974 to Starkenberg.
