Posa is a district of the Starkenberg community in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia .

location

The hamlet is located one kilometer north of Starkenberg and 13 kilometers west of Altenburg not far from the state border with Saxony-Anhalt . In terms of traffic, it is well connected via the state road 1361 . The district of the hamlet lies in the beginning of the Leipzig lowland bay in the loess hill country around Altenburg and Zeitz . A tributary of the Gerstenbach , a tributary of the Pleiße, rises in the village .

history

The hamlet was first mentioned in a document on April 13, 1350. At that time the place had three farms and three other apartments. The Dorothenhof Vorwerk belonging to the Starkenberg manor had 49 inhabitants. Posa, formerly also called Bosa, belonged to the Wettin office of Altenburg , which was under the sovereignty of the following Ernestine duchies from the 16th century due to several divisions in the course of its existence : Duchy of Saxony (1554 to 1572), Duchy of Saxony-Weimar (1572 to 1603 ), Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg (1603 to 1672), Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg (1672 to 1826). When the Ernestine duchies were reorganized in 1826, the place came back to the duchy of Saxony-Altenburg.

After the administrative reform in the duchy, Posa belonged to the eastern district (until 1900) and to the Altenburg district office (from 1900). From 1879 the Altenburg District Court and since 1906 the Meuselwitz District Court were legally responsible for the place.

From 1918 Posa belonged to the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg , which was incorporated into the State of Thuringia in 1920. Between May and December 1920, the so-called Neuposa settlement was built on the site of a steam brick in the Posa district . The reason was the shortage of housing in the Meuselwitz-Altenburg brown coal district . Since 1922 Posa has belonged to the Altenburg district . In 1923 Kleinröda was incorporated and on July 1, 1950, Pöhla became part of Posa.

During the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the existing states were dissolved and the districts were redesigned. Thus Posa came with the district Altenburg to the district of Leipzig . On January 1, 1967, the district of Pöhla was reclassified to Starkenberg, to which Posa with Neuposa and Kleinröda also came on July 1, 1974. The former Vorwerk Dorothenhof of the former Starkenberg manor was demolished in 1979. In 2012, 30 residents lived in the village.

The central school built during the GDR era was a polytechnic high school until the fall of the Berlin Wall . Since then it has been a state primary school, which due to the modern building is still used today by students from the surrounding towns.
