The NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is a hospital in New York City , which as a university hospital with the medical faculties of Columbia University and Cornell University is connected. It was created in 1998 through the merger of the New York Hospital , founded in 1771, historically the second oldest hospital in the USA , and the Presbyterian Hospital, which has existed since 1868 .

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is New York's largest hospital with 2,200 beds and has multiple locations in all five New York boroughs - Bronx , Brooklyn , Manhattan , Queens and Staten Island - as well as in the outskirts in Westchester County , Long Island and represented in New Jersey . Key facilities include Columbia University Medical Center , Weill Cornell Medical Center , Allen Hospital , Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Westchester Division . With more than 17,750 employees, the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is the largest private employer in New York. The number of outpatients treated in 2010 was over 1.4 million, plus almost 200,000 emergency patients , almost 120,000 inpatients and around 12,800 births . In the same year, the hospital's revenues were approximately $ 3.4 billion.

In a study by the American news magazine US News & World Report , NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital was rated the sixth best hospital in the US in 2008. The disciplines in which it was among the ten best hospitals in the country included gynecology , cardiac surgery , endocrinology , nephrology , neurology and neurosurgery , orthopedics , pulmonology , urology and psychiatry .
