There he was initially active for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in the 2009/10 season, before moving to the Tri-City Storm shortly after the start of the following season within the league. In the Storm, the right winger played until the summer of 2012. Then Lappin decided to study at Brown University . After graduating in spring 2016, the undrafted free agent in the New Jersey Devils from the NHL was a new employer. They used him towards the end of the 2015/16 season in their farm team , the Albany Devils , in the American Hockey League , where he scored 14 points in 23 games . After starting the 2016/17 season in Albany , he was appointed to the New Jersey NHL squad for the first time in late October, where he made his debut.
