Peter John Lappin (born December 31, 1965 in St. Charles , Illinois ) is a former American ice hockey player who played seven games for the Minnesota North Stars and San Jose Sharks in National Hockey during his playing career between 1988 and 1992 League on the position of the right winger . His son Nick Lappin is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Lappin played at St. Lawrence University from 1984 to 1988 . In four NCAA seasons with the university team, he scored 85 goals and a total of 187 points in 131 games. In the NHL Supplemental Draft 1987 , the Calgary Flames therefore selected him in fourth position.

After his time in college, the American first played for two years in the International Hockey League with the Salt Lake Golden Eagles before he was transferred from the Flames to the Minnesota North Stars in September 1989 . There he was also mainly used in the IHL, but came in the 1989/90 season in the dress of the North Stars for his first six appearances in the National Hockey League . After the right winger had spent the entire 1990/91 season in the IHL, the newly founded San Jose Sharks still chose him in the 1991 NHL Dispersal Draft . But also with the Sharks Lappin was used for the entire 1991/92 season in the minor league with the Kansas City Blades . He only played one game at NHL level this season for the Sharks. After the 1991/92 season, Lappin ended his professional career.
