Nick Vallelonga

Nick Vallelonga (born September 13, 1959 in New York ) is an American director , screenwriter , film producer and film actor .

life and career

Nick Vallelonga was born in 1959 as the son of actor Tony Lip, who became known from the HBO series The Sopranos in the role of crime boss Carmine Lupertazzi . Vallelonga made his first film appearance in the wedding scene in The Godfather . He later studied acting in New York, where his teachers included Tom Brennan , William Hickey and Julie Bovasso . He first appeared as a screenwriter for Deadfall , which he wrote with Christopher Coppola , the director of the film. This was followed by work as a screenwriter and director of independent films such as A Brilliant Disguise and A Deadly Blonde . In the film In the Kingdom of the Blind, the Man with One Eye Is King , he stood in front of the camera with his father and also directed and wrote the screenplay.

After the September 11, 2001 attacks, Vallelonga wrote and recorded New York City Christmas, a Christmas CD dedicated to New York City police and firefighters. Later, he produced the thriller Machine by Michael Lazar with Neal McDonough , Michael Madsen , James Russo and himself in the lead roles. A Modern Twain Story followed in 2006 : The Prince and the Pauper with Cole and Dylan Sprouse , Vincent Spano , Sally Kellerman and Ed Lauter . In 2007, the production and direction of the crime film Stiletto followed . After appearances as an actor in television series such as New Girl and films such as Jersey Shore Shark Attack, he directed the film Chocolate City in 2016 , then I Am Wrath with John Travolta and Christopher Meloni in the leading roles. Vallelonga produced Pandora's Box and the pilot episode of Jaded for Syfy . In 2017 he directed the television film Unorganized Crime .

In the film Green Book - A Special Friendship of Peter Farrelly , he acted as a producer and screenwriter. The film tells the true story of Vallelonga's father Tony Lip, who chauffeured pianist Don Shirley on a tour of the southern United States in the early 1960s . In the film, his father is played by Viggo Mortensen . Vallelonga's brother Frank took over the role of Tony Lip's brother Rudy in the film, while the real Rudy Vallelonga plays Tony's father Nicola. Nick Vallelonga himself can be seen in a small role and plays Augie. The film was named the 2018 Winner by the National Board of Review .
