Career

Nicolas Schindelholz began his professional career in the U-21 team of FC Basel , where he made his first appearances in the first division (the third highest division) in the 2006/07 season . In the following season he established himself as a regular player and had a not inconsiderable part in the fact that the team ended the first league championship in first place in 2008/09.

His achievements did not go unnoticed. Long-time FCB defender and national player Murat Yakin , who took over as coach of FC Thun in 2009, made use of the contacts with his former home club and brought Schindelholz to the Bernese Oberland together with Marco Aratore and Timm Klose . The defender signed a two-year contract until 2011 with Thun, who played in the second highest Swiss league at the time. In the 2009/10 season he played 27 games and scored one goal. FC Thun won the Challenge League this season and was promoted to the Axpo Super League .

During the first games of the 2010/11 season, Schindelholz reinforced the Thun U21s, who were promoted to the first division in 2010. On September 23, 2010 the defender made his debut in the Axpo Super League against AC Bellinzona and had two more appearances in the first team before he sustained an injury (pulled knee) and until shortly before the end of the preliminary round failed. After his return he was able to establish himself as a regular player and was in the starting line-up several times before he was injured again at the end of February 2011.

In the summer of 2017, Schindelholz moved from FC Thun to league rivals FC Luzern , where he signed a contract until the end of June 2018. After just one season, with only two appearances, he announced his departure from Lucerne and signed a one-year contract with an option with FC Aarau .
