Nicolaus Dassow

Nicolaus Dassow (born December 11, 1639 in Hamburg ; † August 8, 1706 in Greifswald ) was a German professor of theology.

Life

He was the son of the archdeacon of St. Petri Church in Hamburg, Johannes Dassow, and Gertrud Uppendorf.

In 1657 he went to the University of Greifswald and studied the Arabic, Syrian and Greek languages ​​as well as history and mathematics. He then went to Giessen and heard u. a. with Peter Haberkorn , in order to do his PhD in philosophy there in 1662. Dassow then went to Greifswald and disputed there in 1682. After the impeachment of Johannes Colberg , he took over the archdeaconate at St. Marien from 1679 to 1682 and officially from 1683 until Colberg's return.

Nicolaus Dassow married Anna Luise Katharina Siricius in 1684, the daughter of the Rostock theologian Michael Siricius . In 1686 he received his doctorate in theology and became a full professor of theology in Greifswald. He also became assessor of the Greifswald consistory .

After Colberg's death in 1687 Dassow became pastor at St. Marien. He was buried in front of the altar of the church.
