Life

Nicolaus Theodor Boysen was a son of the pastor and later provost and consistorial councilor Jasper Boysen . He attended the cathedral school Schleswig from 1806 to 1813. From Michaelis 1813 he studied Protestant theology , first at the University of Kiel , from Michaelis 1815 to Easter 1816 at the University of Göttingen and finally again in Kiel. In 1820 he passed the official examination with the 1st character in Schloss Gottorf . On April 6, 1823 he received his first pastor's position in Sankt Michaelisdonn . In October 1824 he moved to Sehestedt , and on June 3, 1831 he was appointed senior pastor at Schleswig Cathedral . Associated with this, he was provost for the Gottorf office and a member of the examination college, and from 1834 also the second clerical member of the senior consistory for the Duchy of Schleswig .

From 1837 to 1846 he was a clerical member of the assembly of estates for the Duchy of Schleswig. In 1848 he joined the Schleswig-Holstein survey . For the constituency of Schleswig 2, he was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state assembly .

With the collapse of the uprising and the restoration of Danish authorities, he was dismissed as pastor and provost on August 1, 1850, like about a third of the clergy in the Duchy of Schleswig. He was one of those who excluded the royal patent for the Duchy of Schleswig, the amnesty of May 10, 1851, from the amnesty for the participants in the survey. For a while he “privatized” in Wandsbek before he was appointed pastor ( pastor primarius ) of the Jakobikirche in Prussian Stettin on December 6th, 1851 . Here he stayed until the end of his life.

On his 50th anniversary in office in 1873 - after the Prussian annexation of the duchies as the province of Schleswig-Holstein - the city of Schleswig made him an honorary citizen. In 1883 he was able to celebrate his 60th anniversary in office.
