Jasper Boysen , also Jaspar Boysen (born September 12, 1765 in Flensburg , † July 26, 1818 in Altona ) was a Schleswig-Holstein Protestant-Lutheran clergyman.

Life

Jasper Boysen was a son of the Flensburg businessman Adolf Josias Boysen. After studying Protestant theology , he passed his official examination in Schleswig in 1788 . In 1790 he became a deacon (2nd pastor) in Witzwort . As a follower of Enlightenment theology and theological rationalism , he tried to reform schools and worship there. In several writings, partly together with his brother Diedrich Boysen , who was a deacon in Garding , he defended the general hymn book from 1780, the regional catechism from 1785 , which was also written by Cramer , and the Schleswig-Holstein church agent of the general superintendent Adler against their Lutheran Orthodox opponents . In Witzwort in 1797/98 he waged a fruitless struggle for the introduction of the Agende.

As a reward for his dedication, Adler found him a pastor at the Friedrichsberg Church in Schleswig- Friedrichsberg in 1798 , with whom the office of church provost for the office of Hütten was connected. In 1804 he was appointed church provost for the Gottorf office , senior pastor at Schleswig Cathedral and member of the senior consistory for the Duchy of Schleswig . In 1816 he was transferred to the Steinburg district of Borsfleth , at that time one of the pastoral posts in the country with the highest income. At the same time he became a member of the senior consistory for the Duchy of Holstein in Glückstadt .

When Claus Harms published his own pointed 95 theses on the anniversary of the Reformation in 1817 , in which he criticized theological rationalism as the idol of reason that had been put in the place of God, Boysen replied shortly before his death with a Latin reply. It was translated into German as Des Consistorial-Raths J. Boysen 95 Antitheses. Boysen died in 1818 while visiting Altona. He was buried in Borsfleth. His son Nicolaus Theodor Boysen (1797–1885) was also provost in Schleswig (dismissed by the Danish government in 1850). He was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state assembly .
