Nicolaus Vetter (born October 30, 1666 probably in Herschdorf , † June 13, 1734 in Rudolstadt ) was a German organist and composer of the Baroque era .

Live and act

October 2nd can be calculated as his birthday from the Rudolstadt church register. It says that Vetter died at the age of 67 years, eight months and eleven days.

From 1681 Nicolaus Vetter had lessons with the organist Georg Caspar Wecker in Nuremberg , from August 27, 1683 until after October 29, 1688 he was a student at the Rudolstädter Gymnasium and from 1688 to 1690 Johann Pachelbel's student in Erfurt . The assumption that Vetter attended the university in Erfurt at the same time can not be substantiated from the register of the University of Erfurt .

When Johann Pachelbel switched to Duchess Magdalena Sibylla's service in Stuttgart in 1690 , Vetter was his successor as organist at the Predigerkirche in Erfurt. Already in 1690 he was appointed court organist in Rudolstadt, his successor in Erfurt was Johann Heinrich Buttstedt .
