Niederelvenich is a district of Zülpich in the district of Euskirchen , North Rhine-Westphalia . The mayor is Heinz Hettmer (as of July 2017).

location

Niederelvenich is located in the Zülpicher Börde east of Zülpich. Neighboring towns are Mülheim , Wichterich , Oberelvenich and Rövenich . State road 264 runs on the western edge of the town, state road 162 runs through the town. The town is located on Rotbach .

history

The Niederelvenich settlement developed in the High Middle Ages (1302) near some of the larger feudal farms of the Prüm Abbey (Weidendorfhof, Probsthof, Tahlhof, Haus Busch). As Hochstadenring MOORISH heritage that fell Prümer fief in 1254 to the Electorate of Cologne . Niederelvenich belonged to the Dingstuhl Wichterich in the Lechenich office . Of the four Prüm feudal farms mentioned here, around which Niederelvenich was built, only Haus Busch remains , a castle built directly into the swampy lowland on the other side of the stream, to which it was originally connected by ditches.

School, kindergarten

A document dated March 14, 1736 shows that there was already a school for Niederelvenich, Wichterich and Mülheim at that time. A new school was built in Niederelvenich in 1868 . Another school was built in the 1960s. The Catholic kindergarten is located in the building today .

church

In 1868 the foundation stone for the church was laid. Due to inflation and the chaos of war, however, the new building did not take place. This could only be realized in 1961. The church is now under the patronage of Mary Queen .

The inauguration took place on September 25, 1966.
