Weiler in der Ebene is a district of Zülpich in the district of Euskirchen , North Rhine-Westphalia . The head of the village is Willi Böhling (July 2017).

location

Weiler in der Ebene, a one-line street village , is located in the Jülich-Zülpicher Börde northeast of Zülpich, surrounded on three sides by the Düren district and the Rhein-Erft district . It is differentiated from Weiler am Berge by the addition of its name . Neighboring towns are Rövenich , Disternich in the Düren district, Erp and Scheuren from the city of Erftstadt in the Rhein-Erft district. The federal highway 265 runs through the village .

history

Hamlet on the plain may have arisen from a Franconian manor with a chapel . Weiler ("Wylre" or "Wirle") has been run as a free estate (i.e. tax-free and probably always in aristocratic ownership) in the Cologne office of Zülpich from the start.

The Krewel and Böhling courtyards still form the structural and historical core of the place.

July 1, 1969 Weiler was taken in the plane Zuelpich incorporated .

church

Ortisei and Petronella from the west

In 1462 a St. Ulrichs chapel is mentioned. At that time the chapel community belonged to the parish church of St. Martin in Zülpich. From 1543, Weiler is mentioned as a rectorate belonging to the Erp parish . From 1803 to 1809 Weiler was an independent parish , then it was again a dependent rectorate of the parish of Erp. Since the reorganization, Weiler has been part of the Erftstadt - Börde pastoral care area. Parish patroness is Saint Petronella.

In 1891 the church that still exists today was built in place of the Ulrich chapel. It is a three-bay brick hall church with a retracted polygonal choir , low sacristy buildings in the choir corners, a three-story west tower and polygonal stair turrets in the southern corner of the tower. The sparing details of the exterior were partly built in red sandstone . The exterior of the church is structured by pointed arched windows with simple tracery on the nave , in flat rectangular panels between separated buttresses. The window in the middle shows St. Ulrich and St. Petronella as patron saint. On the left the wedding in Cana and on the right the battle on the Lechfeld is shown.

school

The first school operation can be proven for hamlets from the year 1801. A school hall is known from 1831. The construction of the first school building was decided in 1869. In 1964 a two-class school was inaugurated, which was used until the municipal reorganization in 1968. The building complex with gym was designed and implemented by the Weiler-born architect Prof. Zimmermann from Cologne.
