Wichterich is a district of Zülpich in the district of Euskirchen , North Rhine-Westphalia . Theo Schwellnuss is the mayor for Wichterich and Mülheim .

Wichterich is located in the Zülpicher Börde east of Zülpich. Wichterich and Mülheim merge. The state road 162 leads through the village, the state road 161 leads past the place. At the site the Bleibach flows into the Rotbach , which continues to the Erft .
history
Wichterich is one of the oldest communities in the Voreifel. Until the local reorganization, Wichterich was an independent municipality . On July 1, 1969, the place was incorporated into Zülpich .
The Franconian Victoriacum became Victorich and then today's Wichterich . This name appears for the first time in a document from the year 1203.
Wichterich formed a judicial district of Dingstuhl in the Electoral Cologne Office of Lechenich , to which, in addition to Wichterich, Mülheim and Niederelvenich, belonged.
church
The parish church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist and St. Sebastianus consecrated. A church was mentioned as early as 866. It was certainly rebuilt several times. Today's building is essentially to be assigned to the middle of the 12th century. The church originally consists of a three-aisled complex in quarry stone masonry with a strong western tower in front. The font also dates from the 12th century . The baptismal font was created by Jakob Riffeler in 1963 .
