Rövenich is a district of Zülpich in the district of Euskirchen , North Rhine-Westphalia . Mayor is Michaela Mohr (as of November 2019):

location

Rövenich is located in the Zülpicher Börde northeast of Zülpich. Neighboring towns are Zülpich, Bessenich , Niederelvenich and Weiler in the plane and Sievernich in the neighboring district of Düren . On the western edge of the shuttle runs to the A 1 , on the northern outskirts the national road 265 and east of the highway 264. In the town itself there is no through traffic. There is a former infirmary on the main road .

history

A Celt or Roman with the name Rufinus mag has built the Gut Rufiniacum (home of Rufinus) on the old military road Zülpich- Cologne . The place that was later called Rufenich or Ruvenich developed from this courtyard . The current place name appeared as early as 1419. Rövenich formed a Jülich subordinate rule in the 15th century , in which the Lord of Bollheim exercised sovereign power.

On July 1, 1969, Rövenich was incorporated into Zülpich .

church

The church is first mentioned in 1124. It was only canceled in 1898 because it was dilapidated. The current church, built in the early Gothic style, was consecrated on April 22nd, 1902 . It has 160 seats and is dedicated to St. Pancras .

school

A school is mentioned in Rövenich as early as 1698 . A separate school building was built in the 19th century , as lessons previously took place at the teacher's house. Today there are four former school buildings in the village. The last house built in 1964 is the asylum seekers' home of the city of Zülpich. The school was given up in 1968.

The Drimbornshof in the village is an aftercare facility for the mentally ill.
