Nikita Khartchenkov ( Russian: Никита Александрович Харченков , Nikita Alexandrowitsch Chartschenkow ; born January 12, 1987 in Leningrad , RSFSR ) is a German basketball player of Russian descent and the son of the former Soviet national player Alexander Chartschenkow .

career

After his youth at the Hessian TV Langen and a two-year training at the Russian club from Chimki , he played from 2006 with the New York Phantoms Braunschweig in the Bundesliga and as a double licensed player with SG Braunschweig in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB . After two years he switched to the second class ProA for BV99 from Chemnitz for the 2008/09 season . After one season he moved to the first division promoted Mitteldeutscher BC from Weißenfels , with whom he achieved relegation in the top German division basketball Bundesliga . For the 2010/2011 season, he received no new contract and moved within the league to the Giants from Düsseldorf . There he was unable to assert himself due to injury and a large fluctuation in the squad. In February 2011 the contract was terminated by both sides.

Shortly thereafter, Khartchenkov signed a contract with the second division USC Freiburg in the ProA for the rest of the season. Although the sporting league was successful, after irregularities in the licensing of the club, the license was withdrawn and Khartchenkov moved to the Romanian Sibiu for the 2011/12 season . After a season he returned to Germany and signed a contract with the ProA newcomer Uni-Riesen from Leipzig . However, he left this at the turn of the year and moved to the league competitor Nürnberger BC.

For the 2013/2014 season, Khartchenkov moved to Phoenix Hagen . On December 4, 2014 Khartchenkov was loaned to the ETB Wohnbau Baskets in the Pro A for a few games.

On January 27, 2015, his move to FC Schalke 04 was announced. For the 2015/16 season he was appointed team captain and led the "Knappen" to the championship title in the 1st Regionalliga West (at the same time promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga ProB ). After the 2016/17 season he left FC Schalke 04 and moved to the Iserlohn Kangaroos within the ProB . After two years, Khartchenkov and the basketball players from Iserlohn parted ways. In his two years in Iserlohn he was one of the team's top performers: During the 2017/18 season he achieved an average of 12.8 points per match and turned 58 litters from beyond the triple line over the course of the season. In the 2018/19 game year he scored 13.8 points per game and hit a total of 70 three-point throws. He switched to Schwelmer Baskets within ProB during the 2019 summer break . In the 2019/20 season, which ended prematurely in mid-March 2020 due to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, Khartchenkov and Schwelm finished second in ProB-Nord and contributed an average of 11.3 points per game to this success.

National team

At the U20 European Championship in 2006, Khartchenkov was the best thrower of the German team with a point average of 15.3 in eight appearances. However, the tournament ended with relegation to the B group. At the U20-B-EM 2007 he was again the best German offensive player and scored an average of 15.1 points per game.
