Nicholas of Pacassi
Nikolaus Franz Leonhard von Pacassi (born March 5, 1716 in Wiener Neustadt , † November 11, 1790 in Vienna ; also Nicolò Pacassi , or Paccassi ) was an Austrian - Italian architect of the Baroque and Early Classicism .
Life
In 1753, Nikolaus Pacassi succeeded Jean Nicolas Jadot de Ville-Issey as head of the court building department. All major construction projects also have to do with the imperial court. These include, above all, the renovation of Schönbrunn Palace and the planning of the Redoutensaal wing in the Vienna Hofburg , as well as the new construction and baroque design of parts of Prague Castle . In October 1772 he resigned from the court building department at his own request and was then only active as a consultant until his death. In addition to his work as an architect, he was also a professor at the Accademia di San Luca in Rome from 1756 .
In 1764 Pacassi was knighted and in 1769 as a baron.
In 1922 Pacassistraße in Vienna- Hietzing was named after him , and in 2017 the asteroid (22383) Nicolauspacassi .
