Lena Falkenhagen (born October 10, 1973 in Celle ) is a German author of novels and games , editor and translator in the genres of historical novels and fantasy . Since 2019 she has also been the federal chairwoman of the Association of German Writers (VS) .

Life

Lena Falkenhagen comes from Celle , where she was born on October 10, 1973. She studied German and English and published her first novel in 1996 with Wilhelm Heyne Verlag . In addition to writing novels, she worked as a translator, editor and author of novels and computer games. She is committed to the rights of authors in the cultural sector.

In 2009, Falkenhagen's second historical novel was published with the title Die Lichtermagd , for which she was honored with the Delia Literature Prize for the best German-language romance novel . In 2011 she was involved with the science fiction title Undercover in the “Justifiers Series” by Markus Heitz . In 2013 she published the last novel to date, The Last Hanseatin .

In the games area, Lena Falkenhagen helped design the role-playing world Aventurien as an editor from 1994 to 2011 and has contributed to more than two dozen products of the black eye ( Fantasy Productions , now Ulisses Games ). She then wrote for the computer game Drakensang Online ( Bigpoint ) for five years . The game received the German Developer Award in 2015 for the Rise of Balor expansion written by Falkenhagen . In 2017, Falkenhagen was voted one of the German TOP 10 games developers by the Gameswirtschaft magazine for her work and the presentations in the field of narrative design .

She leads writing workshops and gives introductions to Writing for Games' narratives . Her latest project is a network of narrative-heavy artists from the gaming industry. Here she works with Jason Durall (Systems & Content Design) and Andy Gibson (Audio Design).

Commitment and memberships

Falkenhagen has been a member of the jury of the German Role Playing Award since 2017 , in 2018 she was a member of the jury of the German Developer Award , and in 2017 of the jury of the Seraph Literature Award .

The author was a member of the historical novel Quo Vadis , which dissolved in 2014, and is a member of DeLiA , the syndicate and the Association of German Writers (VS). She is co-founder of the Fantastic Authors Network (PAN) and was second chairwoman of the board from 2016 to 2019. In this function she co-founded the network authors' rights . On May 31, 2017, she was elected Deputy Chairwoman of the board of the Berlin State Association (VS Berlin) within the Association of German Writers and was confirmed in the office on May 9, 2018. On February 16, 2019, the Federal Conference of Delegates in Aschaffenburg elected her as the Federal Chairperson of the Association of German Writers.
