DeLiA - Association of German-speaking romance novelists

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The DeLiA - Association of German-Speaking Romance Writers is an association promoting the literary genre of romance novels .

General

The association was founded in 2003 by twelve female authors as an association for the promotion of German-language romance literature and currently has over 200 members. After the Syndikat , the association of crime writers, and the Murderous Sisters, it belongs to one of the larger genre-specific authors' associations in Germany. Well-known members are Eva Völler , Rebecca Michéle (both founding members), Kerstin Gier , Deana Zinßmeister , Nina George and the author couple Iny Lorentz .

History and club structure

It was founded on May 3, 2003 as part of the Booklover Converence event in Bad Homburg on the initiative of the author Marte Cortmann. The association is based in Meerbusch . Since it was founded, its membership has grown steadily and currently has more than 200 members who together have a circulation of 33 million works. Published authors can become full members. No distinction is made between book publications and magazine novels . A sponsoring membership is also possible. About ten percent of the members are men who mostly write under a female pseudonym .

aims

When it was founded, in addition to building a network of authors, it was also about upgrading the romance genre. With the promotion of young talent and the awarding of the DeLiA literature prize, the prejudice that this type of literature is trivial and kitsch should be countered. Another concern is reading promotion. Following the network idea, the members support each other in questions about the literary business, their writing and professional and artistic work.

Love romance

The Liebesromantage have been held at different locations in Germany since 2004, including Büsum and Sulzbach ; In 2010 the event took place in Linz , Austria. In 2013 as well as in the years 2016–2018 Iserlohn was the venue. Readings, book signing sessions and workshops were organized in cooperation with the city library and the VHS. Particular emphasis is placed on promoting reading, and there are readings and author encounters at primary and secondary schools. The romantic romantic days each ended with a gala in the Parktheater Iserlohn and the award of the DeLiA literature prize. Another change is imminent for 2019: The romantic romantic days will take place in Heiligenhafen on the Baltic Sea. The DeLia Literature Prize will be awarded in March at the Leipzig Book Fair .

DeLiA Literature Prize

The DeLiA Literature Prize has been awarded since 2004 and is endowed with 1500 EUR. The expert jury consists of five members of the authors' association, chaired by Petra Schier . The award goes to the best German-language romance novel for adults that was published in the original or first edition in the previous year of the award ceremony. There are no further genre restrictions as long as the love story sets the focus in the novel or plays a major role.

In 2015, the Lovely Cover was also chosen in cooperation with Lovelybooks . In addition, members of the portal could vote for the most beautiful romance novel cover. The 2016 prize winner is Mirjam Müntefering for The Happiness of Horses .

A prize for the best German-language romance novel for young people has also been awarded since 2017. This is also endowed with prize money of 1500 EUR. The work to be awarded must be a book for young people . Furthermore, the same criteria apply as for the romance novel for adults.
