Nikolaus Webern

Nikolaus Kainzinger-Webern (* 1982 in Leoben , Austria ) is an Austrian set designer .

Career

In 2006 Webern completed a diploma course in the master class for scenography with Erich Wonder at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna . First he worked as an assistant to Es Devlin , Alexander Dodge and Steffen Aarfing at theaters in Europe and the USA. From 2007 to 2009 he was an assistant set designer at the Schauspielhaus Bochum . Since 2010 he has been working as a freelance stage and costume designer. His productions have taken him to the State Theater Karlsruhe , the Saarland State Theater Saarbrücken , the Bregenz Festival , the Theater an der Wien , the Theater Regensburg , the Verdi Festival Parma (Italy), the Hamburg State Opera , the Theater Dortmund, the New Opera Vienna , the St. Gallen Theater (Switzerland), the Vienna Volksoper , the Komische Oper Berlin , the Zurich Opera House and the Teatro San Carlo .

Awards and nominations

In 2008 he was nominated for the Offenbach Lion of the Hessian Theater Academy for his concept for William Shakespeare's " Hamlet ".

In 2011 Webern won the ring.award off as part of the international competition for directing and stage design in Graz for “Captured in Reality”, an adaptation of Johann Strauss ' “ Die Fledermaus ”.

In 2020 he will be nominated for the Austrian Music Theater Prize in the "Best Equipment" category for "Onegin" at the Bregenz Festival .
