Andreas Nikolaus Georg von Below , also Andreas Nicolai Georg von Below (born September 29th July / October 11th  1837 greg. In Brest-Litowsk , Russian Poland ; † October 22nd 1919 in Gohren , Pomerania province ) was a German politician . He belonged to the Prussian House of Representatives , the German Reichstag and from 1895 to the Prussian manor house .

family

He came from the old Mecklenburg-Pomerania noble family von Below and was the son of the imperial Russian major general and landowner Karl Friedrich von Below (1794–1867), real councilor and vice governor of Estonia , and Wilhelmine Freiin von Stackelberg (1800–1882).

Below married her first marriage on September 20, 1862 in Hemmingen ( Württemberg ) Sophie Freiin Varnbuler von und zu Hemmingen (born March 6, 1844 in Hemmingen; † August 30, 1876 ibid), the daughter of the royal Württemberg State Minister Karl Freiherr Varnbuler von und zu Hemmingen (1809–1889) and Henriette Freiin von Süsskind .

In his second marriage, he married the landowner Wilhelmine Schmidt in Wiesbaden on January 26, 1880 (born August 22, 1846 in Magdeburg ; † June 23, 1901 at Gut Kusserow , district of Schlawe ), mistress of Gut Kusserow.

Life

Below attended the knight and cathedral school in Reval in the Russian governorate of Estonia . When the Crimean War broke out , he was appointed a soldier in 1854 and a lieutenant in the Imperial Russian Guard Dragoons Regiment in 1856 .

In 1857 he changed to the Prussian service as a lieutenant. In the Prussian Guard Hussar Regiment, he took part in the German War in 1866 and in the French campaign in 1871. In between he studied in Bonn from 1862 to 1863 without a degree. After that, Below was Fideikommissherr auf Saleske and squire on Gohren , royal Prussian major and knight of honor of the Order of St. John .

In the constituency of Köslin 1 (Stolp-Lauenburg-Bütow) Below was elected to the Prussian House of Representatives in 1874, to which he initially belonged until 1875. From 1886 to 1892 was again a member of the Prussian House of Representatives. The constituency Köslin 2 (Bütow-Rummelsburg-Schlawe) sent Below from 1871 to 1874 and the constituency administrative district Köslin 1 (Stolp-Lauenburg) from 1878 to 1881 to the Reichstag . He joined the Conservative faction there. In 1895 he was appointed a member of the Prussian mansion for life by the king "out of the utmost confidence" .

Nikolaus von Below has made a special contribution to Pomerania. For many years he was President of the Pomeranian Economic Society . In addition, he was a long-time member of the German Agricultural Council and the Prussian State Economics College .
