Ninja - Revenge Will Rise (Original title: Ninja ) is a martial arts and action film from 2009 directed by Isaac Florentine with Scott Adkins and Mika Hijii in the lead roles.

action

Casey Bowman grew up as an American orphan in Koga- Dōjō, Japan . Through diligence and good behavior, he has earned high recognition from the Sensei alongside the student Masazuka . Both are considered potential successors for the Sensei. Casey is also in love with Namiko, Sensei's daughter. Masazuka loses control out of envy and jealousy in a training fight and attacks Casey with a sword. Masazuka just misses Casey by throwing a katana , Casey fends off the attack. As a result, Masazuka is banished from the dojo by Sensei.

Years later, Masazuka became a hit man working for a sect-like group called Temple Industries . This is also known as the underground organization The Ring . The sensei fears that Masazuka will steal an old chest called Yoroi Bitsu , which contains particularly valuable ninja equipment. So he orders Casey and Namiko to take the chest to New York City, where, with the help of Professor Garrison, they place it at Triborough University. However, you are pursued by some hit men during this action. While Casey and Namiko are on the run from the killers, they are wrongly held responsible for the murder of Professor Garrison and are subsequently arrested. Detective Traxler interrogates Casey but does not believe him. Masazuka breaks into the police station, kills several policemen and then kidnaps Namiko. While more police forces arrive, Masazuka and Namiko flee the precinct and Casey is forced to flee as well.

Casey invades the cult and overpowers all attackers. He calls Masazuka on the sect leader's mobile phone and arranges a meeting with him on a construction site to exchange the Yoroi Bitsu for Namiko. Casey invades the university and takes the chest. He then equips himself with the contents of the chest. At the subsequent meeting, Masazuka can only find the chest empty after it is lowered with a crane. Casey and Masazuka prepare for a fight, but are attacked by some temple members. After the attackers are eliminated, Masazuka hits Namiko with a poison dart. During a fight, Masazuka deliberately drops the bottle containing the antidote. Casey has a fit of anger. While the police helicopters blind the two fighters, Masazuka uses a certain technique to outsmart the blinded Casey. But Casey can, thanks to his instincts, impale Masazuka with his sword in a counter-attack. Casey can apparently no longer save Namiko, but discovers that the handle of the katana from the chest also contains the antidote . Casey gives Namiko the antidote and is able to save her life. Finally, the seriously wounded Masasuka is beheaded by Casey with the katana.

The next morning, Traxler informs Casey and Namiko that the gang members have been arrested. He gave the two of them their passports with the request to leave the city quickly and forever. The two return to Japan, visit the tomb of Sensei and manage the dojo.

reception

“The not very original martial arts story features carefully choreographed fight scenes and above-average camera work; Your greatest asset is the charismatic lead actor. An excitingly prepared, but also drastically tough genre film. "
