Nintendogs + Cats is a video game released by Nintendo in 2011 for the Nintendo 3DS . It is the successor to Nintendogs . It was released on February 26, 2011 in Japan, on March 25, 2011 in Europe (at the same time as Nintendo 3DS) and on March 27, 2011 in North America.

Gameplay

The game is very similar to its predecessor. Nintendogs + Cats has improved graphics and some new features such as: B. the "StreetPass" function, with which you can register other players you meet on the (real) street, and the possibility of buying cats later . You can also use the Nintendo 3DS camera with the AR cards. (See also the "Technical Features" section in the Nintendo 3DS article ).

Changes to the predecessor

The gameplay has changed slightly. Only outlines appear on the lower screen (touchscreen) during normal game operation. Darker outlines indicate that the stylus can be interacted with, e.g. B. Accepting objects and keeping the leash. Shops can be entered directly (without a walk); there are also new locations, such as a café, as well as numerous new items such as different furniture for dogs and cats, diet food, other new toys, fashion accessories and records.

During the walk, small, square lawns appear, as well as litter bins and hydrants, to which the dogs can be led or led away. Master of strange animals are fully as so-called Mii - avatars visible. If the dogs are led to the signs on the edge, other urban areas such as mountains and seas, buildings or parks can be entered. There are also secret paths with increased opportunities for finding. This extends the walks and training can be incorporated. In addition, the ecological aspect has been expanded. Valuable waste found by the dog such as car tires, leather, metal or plastic bottles can be recycled into new items in a shop.

The times of day and weather changes are shown, so after rain there are puddles of water that additionally pollute the dog if he is not led away from them.

There are still three competition categories, with the obstacle course being replaced by coursing ( greyhound racing ). In contrast to the other competitions, all three candidates compete against each other at the same time. The other competition categories besides coursing are the obedience competition and the disc competition in which the dog has to catch a frisbee .

Versions

Three different versions of the game were released, including Nintendogs + Cats: Miniature Poodles & New Friends ; Nintendogs + Cats: Golden Retriever & New Friends and Nintendogs + Cats: French Bulldog & New Friends .
