Njegoš Petrović ( Serbian - Cyrillic Његош Петровић ; born July 18, 1999 in Krupanj , BR Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian football player who has been under contract with FK Red Star Belgrade since August 2019 . The midfielder has been a Serbian U21 international since November 2018 .
Career
society
Njegoš Petrović, who was born in Krupanj , began his football training at the local club FK Rađevac. In 2011 he moved on to the youth team at FK Rad Belgrade , where he was promoted through various junior teams. In the summer of 2016 he signed his first professional contract with the capital city club and committed himself to cycling for four years. He made his debut for the first division team on July 30, 2016 (2nd match day) in a 2-0 home defeat against FK Voždovac when he came on for Bogdan Mladenović in the 65th minute of the game . In this 2016/17 season , the midfielder appeared in nine league games.
In the next 2017/18 season , he made his breakthrough in the starting line-up of head coach Gordan Petrić . He retained this status under his successor Slađan Nikolić . On May 13, 2018, Petrović scored his first two league goals in a 3-2 home win against FK Zemun and prepared the team's third goal. He ended the season with 25 league appearances, in which he scored two goals and prepared three more goals. The young Serb also held his regular place in the 2018/19 season , in which he scored a goal in 28 league games.
On August 5, 2019, Njegoš Petrović moved to league rivals FK Roter Stern Belgrade for a transfer fee of 400,000 euros , where he signed a four-year contract. At the traditional club he quickly established himself as a regular player in the 2019/20 season and played with the club in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League . He made his debut on August 9, 2019 (4th matchday) in a 2-0 home win against FK Mladost Lučani . On February 15, 2020 (21st matchday), he scored his first goal of the season for Crveno-beli in the derby against FK Čukarički .
National team
Between 2014 and 2016 Njegoš Petrović was a regular part of the U16 and U17 of Serbia. In May 2016 he took part with the U17s in the U17 European Championship 2016 in Azerbaijan , where he played all three group matches of the selection. Following the tournament, he received his first nomination for the U19 , for which he appeared seven times until March 2018.
Petrović has been a Serbian U21 international since November 2018 .
